Sandra Scannell has been teaching pilates in Fermoy for over ten years. She holds an Advanced Pilates Instructor qualification from the Progressive Pilates Academy. FitRepublic offers classes for Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels. She also offers classes for Men only and Barre Options. Various equipment and props are used for variety and modifications. Pilates is a holistic concept that makes you feel fitter and more flexible and will enrich you whole way of life. Pilates involves combining a series of movements that will change how your body looks and give you a new physical poise and greater mental strength. Utilising the concepts of core control, spinal elongation and focus, each wonderful movement is bolstered by a relaxed flowing breath that unites body and mind. Developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900s, it has been described as the ‘thinking person’s exercise’ because of it’s focus on movement with precision.
